ServiceNow is a leading Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) product. It offers a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) that contains valuable information which can be examined within the context of the overall enterprise architecture in System Architect.
ServiceNow offers several products that organizations use to track elements of their business:
- ServiceNow ITSM
- ServiceNow Application Portfolio Management (APM)
- ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM)
- ServiceNow IT Asset Management (ITAM)
- Amongst other modules.
ServiceNow has a Common Service Data Model (CSDM) provides an interface to the base product and all modules.
System Architect and ServiceNow can be automatically integrated so that information from ServiceNow is automatically harvested into the enterprise architecture in System Architect — and vice versa. Both tools have a REST read/write API. Other methods can be used as well, such as System Architect’s VBA COM API, and even simple CSV import.
Every organization will have differences in their metamodels — in both ServiceNow and in System Architect. So the first step to building an integration is deciding on the mapping for your organization.
